We invite all interested university students to
the International Student Team Competition in Mathematics
organized by the University od Silesia, Katowice (Poland). Despite the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic situation and various travel restrictions and quarantine regulations, the organisers have decided to run the whole of the upcoming Competition in the traditional manner.
For all those who would like to take part but who will not be able to come to Katowice, the organisers have opened the possibility to participate online in the team part of the competition. More details can be found in the Rules.
The Competition will take place from November 12th till November 14th 2021 at the Institute of Mathematics, Faculty of Science and Technology.
The goal of the competition is to maintain a keen interest in mathematics, to encourage the development of all mathematically talented students, to support friendly relations between students and teachers of participating institutions and to promote cooperation between students and the development of interpersonal skills.
The competition is addressed to every student at any stage of the studies (undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate studies up to the third year), interested in mathematics.
The competition consists of two parts: individual and team. Teams may consist of up to five students.
In the individual part there will be five problems in the following areas: mathematical analysis (with topology and set theory), functional equations (including differential equations), algebra and combinatorics, geometry and linear algebra, probability theory. The team part will consist of ten problems.
Participation is free of charge. Participants should register through this webpage. Registration will be open untill October 31th, 2021.
